La Online News Association (ONA) dio a conocer hoy la lista de finalistas para los Premios de Periodismo Online 2012, que reconocen la innovación y la excelencia en la narrativa digital, y su distribución por la Internet, de los medios de comunicación en Estados Unidos.

La selección de participantes para esta instancia pasó por los ojos de 34 líderes del periodismo y profesionales en sitios web, quienes revisaron los productos que ofrecen los medios para escoger a los mejores. En esta final  serán 24 los jueces, locales e internacionales, los que decidirán cuáles son las mejores propuestas de brindar información.

Son 30 las categorías en las que se clasifican los premios, en las que se destaca a NYTimes.com en el rótulo de Excelencia General de Periodismo en Línea, en medios grandes. Esta merecida nominación se debe tanto a las mejoras que el medio ha aplicado a su sitio, como a la comunicación e interacción que tiene con los usuarios, usando herramientas digitales.

Ocho premios vienen con un total de 33.000 dólares, cortesía de la Fundación John S. y James L. Knight Foundation y la Fundación Gannett, que también está apoyando el trabajo de investigación innovador con dos premios de $ 2.500.

Los resultados se darán a conocer en la Conferencia ONA  2012 y en el banquete de Premios de Periodismo Online, el sábado 22 de septiembre, en San Francisco.
